Now that Super Bowl LV is in the books and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are champions for only the second time in their history, I wanted to have a look at what I believe, would be dream matchups for Super Bowl LVI which is being held in LA.
Just to clarify, these are not who I think will make the Super Bowl; it's just a top 5 of who I would like to see at LA's SoFi stadium come the 6th February 2022.
1) Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs.
For the last two years, we've been close to getting this matchup but as of right now, the stars have not yet aligned. Who wouldn't want to see Packer's quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Chief's Patrick Mahomes battle it out in sunny California for the Super Bowl?
Until it happens (if it ever happens), I think this could potentially be one of the most exciting games ever played on the biggest stage in sports.

A potential rematch of Super Bowl I, with two of the best quarterbacks in the game... yes please.
2) Los Angeles Rams vs Los Angeles Chargers.
The Battle for Los Angeles. What better way for LA to host their first Super Bowl in its brand new stadium, than having both LA teams there contending for the title.
This matchup may also not be as far-fetched as you think; The Rams, now with Matthew Stafford behind centre and most likely, a lot of the core pieces of their defence, should be considered one of the top contenders for this Super Bowl.
Couple that with what is happening with LA's other team, the Chargers, with recently crowned Rookie of the Year, Justin Herbert and an underrated defence of its own, led by Joey Bosa and third year safety Derwin James. The chances of the Chargers even making the playoffs is not guaranteed, but this team could have a legitimate chance to compete if first year head coach and former Ram defensive coordinator, Brandon Staley, can carry on the momentum of last year.

The Rams and Chargers unfortunately don't play each other during the regular season in '21/'22.
3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Kansas City Chiefs.
I get it, Super Bowl LV wasn't the classic everyone hoped it would be, between the "Goat" and the "kid" trying to become the "Goat"… you get it?
But who doesn't want to see Brady Mahomes Super Bowl round two? With a healthy o-line, no turf toe, and an extremely motivated Mahomes (who has never beaten Brady in the playoffs). Plus, I'm sure we all want to see if a 44 year old Tom Brady can win ANOTHER Super Bowl? He only has seven... Either way, maybe we would be able to get the classic game that Super Bowl LV failed to deliver us.

There is no love loss between the Chiefs and Bucs, which Antoine Winfield Jr. shows here by copying Tyreek Hill's peace sign celebration.
4) New Orleans Saints vs Pittsburgh Steelers. It looks as though both Drew Brees of the Saints and Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers are coming back for at least one more year; what better way for the two future hall of famers to meet up one last time for all the marbles. Both teams are coming off disappointing seasons; with Brees and the Saints falling to Brady and the Bucs in the Divisional round. Meanwhile, Big Ben and company need to try and bounce back from losing their last five out of six games, including a first round wild card exit to the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs.
Should it be the last time we see both of these quarterbacks play, let's have it with a chance for them to cement their respective legacies further, versus one another.

Two of the best to ever do it; would a Super Bowl win over the other enhance their standing even more?
5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New England Patriots.
I think we all know why this is on the list - Tom Brady. Bill Belichick. Who really deserves all the accolades and praise for their twenty years of dominance in the league? (Don't repeat this too loudly… but I think they both had a little something to do with it).
And while we don't know who will be the starter for the Patriots this year (perhaps a Jimmy Garoppolo revenge tour?) what we do know is that seeing Brady going up against Belichick for the Super Bowl would need no introduction or hype; it practically writes itself.
We will get a taste of this during the '21/'22 regular season when the Bucs come up to visit the Patriots, but playing for a Super Bowl would up the ante to thermonuclear levels.
Side Note: As an avid Patriots fan, this is my own personal nightmare matchup and I would not be mentally prepared to lose that game. But as a neutral, this would be one for the ages.

The greatest Head Coach/Quarterback duo of all time facing each other in a Super Bowl... The media would have a frenzy.
So those are my top 5 matchups. Do you have any dream Super Bowl LVI matchups? Comment below.

Some great match ups there! One id like to see is a Bucs vs Bills Superbowl. Brady was the bane of Buffalo's existence for the duration of his tenure at the Patriots. Could the bills get a little bit of sweet revenge at the biggest sporting event on the globe? Or would it just be a reminder that Brady will always be the nightmarish spectre of misery for the Bills and their fanbase.
